117 Croatian Shirt - Sewing Pattern

$23.00

Misses 6-20; Men's 32-48. A traditional tucked linen shirt was worn by peasants, farmers, and shepherds in the Pannonian Basin, the northern farming district of former Yugoslavia. Originally made from homespun linen, but elegant in cotton, silk, and sheers.  This thigh-length shirt pattern has simple straight panels of fabric, which are then tucked in front and pleated into shoulder yoke in front and back. The sleeves have underarm gussets and are pleated into cuffs. The notched collar and cuffs show the influence of tailored urban dress of it's time. The shirt has a front opening, self-placket, and buttons down the front. The pattern provides two lengths - the traditional thigh-length garment, and a dress-length.
